Seju Selektion Arranging Flowers With Impact

“Roses are red, violets are blue…”. “He loves me, he loves me not…”. We associate all of these scenes with romance and flowers. Indeed, the giving of flowers is considered a wonderful expression of love and appreciation.

The mother-daughter team at Seju Selektions facilitates your gift giving the best possible product at the best possible price.

Thirty years

Seju’s story dates back almost thirty years ago when Sheila Pilgrim opened her doors in 1989 at a Roebuck Street, Bridgetown location. Her daughter at the time was a casual employee who assisted as needed.

Juliet left her job at Cable and Wireless and became a full time member of the team in 2003. “Seju” is a combination of both their names. Since that time, the shop has moved to its present location at Hindsbury Main Road, the corner of and School Road, St Michael. Parking is available onsite but delivery may be made islandwide.

Although the design process is a pleasure for these internationally trained ladies, Juliet assures me that’s not the only thrill from doing what you love, she says, “Meeting customers and making them happy with the finished product. I enjoy doing anything creative interior design floral design…”

The mission statement for this business is “To provide high-quality, appealing products to customers at competitive prices.” What other products does this floral shop offer beside fresh flowers?

Here is a sample:

  • Fresh, silk and dried floral arrangements for all occassions
  • Gift baskets
  • Gourmet baskets
  • Fruit and wine
  • Balloon arrangements
  • Spa Products
  • Greeting cards and gift wrapping
  • Customised items
  • Lingerie
  • Fashion Jewelry
  • Vases and pottery

I asked Juliet the names of some flowers and on which occasions they are typically used. She responded, ”Roses mean love and friendship and have become increasingly popular around Valentine’s. However, carnations, chrysanthemums, anthuriums (ginger lilies) are often used and tiger lilies especially at Easter.”

All of Seju’s flowers are supplied locally so turnaround times are fast, however, for colour scheme matches two days in advance may be required.

What is your occasion?

If you simply want to say “I am sorry” or “…just because”, Seju has a “selektion” for you. They also cater to trade shows and special events. The customer defines the event, so if you bring your budget and your idea the team will put together a presentation just for you. This is a list of other specially catered occasions.

It is by no means exhaustive:

  • Weddings and bridal
  • Funeral and sympathy
  • Get well
  • Administrative days
  • Corporate functions
  • Congratulations
  • Graduations
  • Anniversaries
  • Christmas
  • Baby Arrivals
  • Thank you

When asked what we may expect of the business in the future, Juliet says, “Our motto is, “A beauty dream comes true.” You can expect an even greater product range, and we will continue to satisfy our customers.” Their website displays past creations and bears testimony to the beauty of their designs and creativity.

Sometimes the unexpected happens and it is too late to let someone know you care. I encourage you not to delay showing your appreciation today and if you fall short on words – say it with flowers.
